MARTIN MENDOZA MAYA

He was born on February 11th. 1966 in Mexico City.

At a very early age he learns several sculpturing techniques from his father who is also a sculptor. At 17, he exposes his work collectively for the first time at the Misrachi Art Gallery.

His first sculptures are abstract, directly carved on marble and wood.

Later, he embraces the human and animal forms.

In spite of his young age, he has exhibited his work in places such as: The  Misrachi  Gallery,  the Aura Gallery, the American School, Mexico´s jewish community Center, the Domecq tower and the theatre of the people, all in Mexico City.

In addition,  he  has  been  twice  awarded  honors  in the  "Arte Joven"  competition  organized  by  the government of the city of Mexico.
